It was founded in 1981 by Chilean architect Sergo Larrain Garcia-Moreno. The Chilean Museum of Pre-Colombian Art is located in the centre of the capital, and it is dedicated to the study and display of pre-Colombian artworks and artifacts from Central and South America.
